- Potential hazards include fire, electric shock, injuries, and health issues
- Consumers should check their model numbers and contact LG if they are affected
When Was the LG Dishwasher Recall Issued?
LG Dishwasher Recall is an important public notice issued by LG Electronics regarding certain LG dishwasher models.
LG recalled some dishwashers in 2018 their LED panels were messed up. Water was getting in and making them stop working right.
In Australia, they also had to recall some cuz they might overheat. This ain’t the first time – they had a similar problem back in 2005.
The recall now is for QuadWash dishwashers. People are saying LG knew about this since 2015 but didn’t do nothin till someone sued them.
Which Models Are Affected by the LG Dishwasher Recall?
LG dishwasher recall primarily affects several models equipped with defective LED control panels that are prone to moisture intrusion, rendering them inoperable.
LG dishwasher recall issued in November 2018 affects the following models equipped with defective LED control panels:
- LDF5545ST
- LDF5545BD
- LDF5545WW
- LDF5545BB
- LDF5545BM
- LDF5545VT
- LDF5545BZ
- LDF5545BS
- LDF5545SS
- LDF5545ST
- LDF5545BD
- LDF5545WW
- LDF5545BB
- LDF5545BM
- LDF5545VT
- LDF5545BZ
- LDF5545BS
- LDF5545SS
Recall also includes models recalled in 2005 due to potential overheating issues related to solder joints in circuit boards:
- LD-12AS1
- LD-12AW2
- LD-14AW1
- LD-14AW2
- LD-14AT1
- LD-14AT2
- LD-4050W
These dishwashers may experience issues such as blinking control panels and unresponsive buttons, which can prevent them from starting or completing wash cycles as intended.
Lawsuit alleges that LG has been aware of this defect since at least 2015 but has not effectively remedied the situation, leading to repeated failures even after replacement parts are installed.
What Are the Potential Dangers of the Recalled LG Dishwashers?
Those LG dishwashers that got recalled? They’re pretty dangerous. Here’s the deal:
Fire stuff: Bad wiring and hot circuit boards can start fires. People have seen smoke, burning smells, and real fires from them. One guy’s house got like $60,000 in damage!
Shock risks: If they leak, water gets in the electrics. You could get zapped!
Injuries: The doors might fall super fast and hurt you if they hit you.
Health probs: When the insulation gets hot, it can make nasty fumes. Gives you headaches and makes you feel sick.

First things first, you’ll wanna contact LG to get the lowdown. Keep in mind, though, that info can be subject to change or even subject to change without notice, so stay on your toes!
Now, this recall isn’t about your washer or dryer, and it’s not related to those Kenmore or LG washers purchased way back when, or LG washers purchased at Sears. Nope, we’re talking dishwashers here.
So, what’s the deal? Well, there’s apparently some control panel defect that’s posing a risk of overheating.
Yikes! To check if your dishwasher is affected, take a peek at the dishwasher’s control panel. If it’s acting funky or you notice any signs of overheating, it’s time to give LG a shout.
They’ve got folks ready to help you out from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 2 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekends.

But hey, it’s not all doom and gloom! If you’re in the market to purchase an eligible LG appliance, there might be some sweet deals waiting for you.
We’re talking about eligible LG kitchen appliances here, not just dishwashers.
Just remember, there’s usually a limit on how many appliances of the same category are allowed to qualify for these deals.
To check if your LG dishwasher’s got a recall? Here’s what you do:
Go to LG’s website for recalls. Just google “LG recall” and you’ll find it.
Find your dishwasher’s model and serial number. It is usually inside the door or on the side.
Look at the recall lists on the website and see if your numbers match.
If you are not sure or your dishwasher is on the list, call LG. Their number is 1-855-400-4639 in the US.

Hello – we purchased LG dishwasher – Model #LDTS55r2S to be placed in our new home in October 2023. When we moved, the dishwasher seemed to be making noise. Over time, the noise got worse. I called the place where we purchased the appliance and because it was under warranty, a repair appliance fellow came and checked it out. He looked at the machine and had mentioned he has seen this before. The noise was due to one of the pumps. He said he would replace both pumps. He ordered the pumps and came the other day to replace them. That evening, the dishwasher was still making a lot of noise. It is quite a loud sound as I can hear it when in the basement. We reached out to the fellow – he came back and checked everything out and does not know why it is making such a noise. I purchased the same dishwasher for our house in which we sold, and it was so quiet that I could talk on the phone. It was so quiet, that we had decided to purchase the same dishwasher for our new home, but unfortunately, this is not the case. Needles to say I am very disappointment in this situation and the loudness of the dishwasher – there must be something else wrong with it, but the repairman said there was nothing wrong and no reason why it is so loud. I hope you take this comment seriously and come to some resolution as I do not like the sound it makes as it too loud. The complaint to the place of purchase was done before the one year mark, so this is under warranty. I am hoping that this can replaced and I am not a happy customer and therefore will not purchase LG again if this is not replaced. In the past we have only bought LG and have never been disappointed until now with this dishwasher. I have also taken a video to show the loudness of the dishwasher. Hope you can come to some resolution and not bush this problem off…
Thank you….

Egles, I totally get your frustration with the LG dishwasher Model #LDTS55r2S. It’s a bummer when you expect a quiet machine and end up with a noisy one instead. Since the repairman replaced the pumps but the noise persists, it might be worth checking if the spray arm is blocked or if the dishes are arranged too tightly. Sometimes, those little things can cause big sounds! You mentioned you’ve had great experiences with LG before, so it’s understandable to feel let down now. I recommend reaching out to LG’s support directly for further assistance; they can guide you through more troubleshooting steps or escalate your issue. You can find help on their support page here. Hopefully, they can resolve this for you soon!
Thank you for responding. The repair man checked everything over – all the sprayers and even the trap. I clean out the trap and wash everything every two weeks. It really sounds like a motor issue, so needless to say – I am not very happy with this situation
I currently have an LG dishwasher model #LDF5545ST. It is the first one listed on your list. I checked with LG tho and they of course state that it is not being recalled. It is exactly 4 years old and was professionally installed. It’s been flickering and shutting off on its on and now totally inoperable. As I’ve read it seems to have gotten moisture in the control panel which is also why there is a class action lawsuit about these dishwashers. Is there anything I can do other than buy a new one?
